I always tell people not to be afraid of reinventing themselves. I feel that it's necessary to Humanity in many aspects, and it comes in many forms. It can be physical or mental. Whether it's changing your style, or adapting new habits. It encourages self-growth and exploration of the new and unfamiliar. Sometimes it takes years, others may only take days to begin the process. Some is subtle, other times may be completely dramatic…and it isn't always a mid-life crisis.
Transformations put you in different situations, different crowds, and can lead to concepts of our own future, as well as better understandings of ourselves. All it requires is an honest reflection of yourself, and an openness to confront what you want to change and put it into action. For many people, that is easier said than done. We love to run from ourselves and ignore our potential greatness, and we are discouraged from drastic changes because others are afraid they'll lose someone or have to change themselves.
Eventually there is a break-point though, and we make the choice because there care no other choices. Something needs to change, because we know something is off and modifying ourselves may the only way our lives are going to move out of stagnation.
Many artists especially, are accustomed to their worlds imploding with drastic alterations in personality, perspective, or habits and oftentimes it is portrayed through their work.
So just go do it. Reinvent yourself.
