Louise: "What mood drives your most creative moments? Every mood has a different outcome of creativity. I think "restless" is probably the most prominent one. I'm always thinking about my next step, or what I want to do "tomorrow." I use art to stay as "in-the-moment" as I can, especially when playing music. A lot of my previous writing has been through anger and aggravation that ultimately came from confusion. Confusion about the world, seeing so much greed and corruption, and having confusion about myself. Nowadays I come from a happier, more grounded, perspective. More positive moods! Mostly because Im in a better state of mental health. There are still issues that I observe, and I still I can still be irascible, but I've really learned to make that productive and channel it into articulation, or whatever I'm doing. What is your definition of art?" My definition of art…That for me is a tough question to answer without having seeming cliche. To "define" something is giving it a meaning, but for me the meaning of art varies depending on my mood or project. Generally speaking, art to me is my lifeline. Art is my escape, but it's also my way of confrontation. Dupree: What is the most difficult part of your creative process? Sticking with a final result is probably hardest for me. At least in regards to poetry or writing. Photography it's a different obsessive process, but less frustrating. I change my poetry a lot. I'll think of a different way to word something, or want to add more….And my opinions are always changing. I'm always learning and adapting. I think that was the most difficult thing about releasing a book this year. Granted, I am a first-time author, so maybe it's normal for other writers too? For me the book release was a way of "moving on" and solidifying a time period for myself, so it was hard to not alter a lot of the older poetry in that book. I look back at my journal now and think, "Woah! Such ignorance!" I'm getting better at just going with it and being less indecisive. It's an interesting thing to learn. Brandon: If you found a mediocre lamp that contained a mediocre genie who offered you one mediocre wish, what would it be? My cliche wish would probably relate to a shift in Humanity. Greed and poverty right now, I'd want to change that for everyone. Although it's a pretty extraordinary wish, so I may want to actually wish for a more experienced genie first. What common misconceptions do people have about you, and are there any you don't actually mind? Oh man…Those are questions that I can answer for days. Now that I think of it, the top three would probably be my religion, my intentions, and my feelings. I supposedly look angry all the time, so it freaks people out. People know when I'm angry though. I will typically politely remove myself from situations. The angry look is just me in my own head, nothing personal. My intentions get misunderstood because I can be abrasive, and straight-forward. Just part of wanting to cut the chatter and get back to my creative scheming. Or self loathing. The religion thing is the only one that doesn't totally bother me, only because the other two make it a little difficult to build trust with others. People accuse me of being a Satanist, or Wiccan but I could give a shit less if people want to judge me based on a religion. I don't devote to any particular religion. I do have faith though. I do believe in God, but that's not the only thing I believe in. Can't really explain it....The Universe is one crazy conundrum! I just know I want to inspire and do good stuff 'cuz I know my angels are watchin'. :) Greg : Who inspires you? My parents, first and foremost. They work hard, and taught me to do the same. My Dad also totally shreds a 6 string axe.... Aside from friends and the general population, I'd have to say George Carlin. He's one of the first inspirations I had as a kid, and his material inspires me to stay open. Dave Mustaine too, he's got rad music. I'm intellectually stimulated by anyone with a mindset like that. I feel familiar when I listen to Megadeth or Carlin's shows. Less isolated. |
